Did you see it? That’s right, Dr. C got the wonderful opportunity to be a guest co-host on KEYC TV’s Kato Living show. Be sure to read his comments below, and check out some of the footage.
Well…here we are! I had the most wonderful opportunity in the world. When one of the co-hosts of the Kato Living show was on vacation, who did they ask to come fill in? Well naturally your friendly neighborhood chiropractor. I have to be honest, I had to think about it…for two seconds! It was so fun to see everything from behind the cameras! To be honest, I was pretty nervous, but excited at the same time. Lisa Cownie, the host, took great care of me. If you know her at all, you know that she is such a caring person. I’ve been fortunate to get to know her over the years here, and it’s always a blast to see what she does behind the scenes.
As much fun as I had, you do not have to worry about me making any career changes. I still plan to be your chiropractor. Perhaps in another life I may have served as a tv personality, but my life’s work still calls me to take care of each and every one of you. However, I would not be remotely offended if you started a petition for me to get my own segment (hint, hint). Again, you don’t need to do that. But on a completely unrelated topic, I could provide you with names, phone numbers, emails, snaps, tiktoks, addresses, and longitude/latitude coordinates where you might be able to start such a petition. Again, no pressure. But feel free to let me know when you’ve got that done.
We had several wonderful guests, and learned some interesting things. One thing that was really unique was the story about the longest running study on happiness. It turns out that Harvard has been doing this study called the Harvard Study of Adult Development for 85 years now. You read that right! Since 1938, they have been tracking a group of people and their descendants and have been trying to find the keys to happiness. Do you know what they published lately? Well Dr. Robert Waldinger, Study Director and Psychiatry Professor at Harvard Medical School says that the findings show that those that maintain their relationships seem to lead a life full of happiness. The group studying this published a book called The Good Life: Lessons from the World’s Longest Scientific Study of Happiness.
This is a pretty amazing finding! We have known for quite some time that people need to be around other people. But what this means is, a great way to feeling better is making sure to get your relationships in order. Most patients present to our office because they are in pain, and just want to feel better. This is why we talk about the importance of the brain and mental health. Your relationships with other people are so vital to helping you be healthier, so you can feel better! So what can you do? All of us know the people we care about. Some of them are right in front of you…everyday! So go give them a big hug, take them out for coffee, or just tell them how much you love them. For those that are far away, give them a call! Text them! Message them. Be intentional about making sure that the people you care about know that you love them. In the end, all we have left are our memories with each other, so make them great ones. Your homework is this: Who do you need to connect with? Then, go do it! You never know what kind of impact you may have on them just by being intentional. Go make a difference today!
