Graston Technique

The Graston Technique, highly popular amongst athletes, is used to treat soft tissue injuries. With this procedure, patented instruments are used to assist in mobilizing soft tissues to effectively break down scar tissues and other myofascial restrictions.

When an injury occurs, such as a sprain ankle, and is left untreated or treated improperly, scar tissue forms. The problem with scar tissue is that it is your body’s attempt to fix the injured area quickly, but not necessarily effectively. Scar tissue is often a weaker tissue than normal soft tissues, limits range of motion, and can cause varying levels of pain. The result for the patient is an area that no longer functions like it is supposed to, thus being more prone to re-injury.

To properly treat it, the Graston tools are used to detect where treatment is needed, and then used to break up these areas of scar tissue. With the proper Chiropractic Adjustments, exercises, and modalities, the Graston Technique is highly effective in treating acute and chronic injuries.

Due to the nature of the treatment, bruising and discomfort can be a normal part of the procedure.
